The questions everyone has but is afraid to Google at 2am after getting a ticket. We've got you.
Yes. Orange County accepts online Traffic Violator School from DMV-licensed providers. Freeway Traffic School holds CA DMV TVS License E1745, which is valid statewide including Orange County. You must be eligible and have court permission before enrolling — check your Violation Information Notice or call (657) 622-8459.
You generally qualify if:
When in doubt, call the court at (657) 622-8459 before paying anything. We can't issue refunds for ineligible registrations.
No. CDL holders cannot use traffic school to mask a point on their record, even if they received the citation while driving a personal vehicle. This is a California state rule, not just an Orange County policy.
You can sign up and pay for traffic school:
You must have your OC Pay # ready for online/phone options. It's on your Violation Information Notice or can be looked up at occourts.org.
This is a non-refundable fee paid directly to Orange County Superior Court to process your traffic school request. It's in addition to your bail amount (the ticket fine). This is completely separate from Freeway Traffic School: start the course with no upfront course payment, then pay only when you pass. No hidden fees. Always verify the current fee amount with the court at (657) 622-8459, as fees can change.
90 days from the date the court processes your payment — not from your ticket date or court date. The clock starts when the court actually processes your bail and admin fee. One 30-day extension is available. Request it online at cup.occourts.org, by calling (657) 622-8459, or in person. Always verify current deadlines directly with the court.
Your ticket conviction is recorded with the point on your public driving record. The court will not extend the traffic school option after the deadline has passed. The point becomes visible to insurance companies at your next renewal. Don't let this happen — start the course early and use the 30-day extension if you need breathing room.
Most students finish in a few hours. The course is 100% self-paced — log in and out whenever you want from any device. There's no timer forcing you to sit there longer than necessary. If you have to stop, pick up exactly where you left off.
Try again. And again. Unlimited retries on every quiz, zero extra charge. You will pass this course.
Yes. The full course is available in Spanish. Register via the Spanish enrollment link: Comenzar Gratis. The automated court phone line at (657) 622-8459 also offers service in Spanish and Vietnamese.
The day you pass the course, your completion is filed electronically to both the DMV and the Orange County Superior Court. You don't need to mail anything. The court and DMV typically process this within a few days, but allow a bit of time before your deadline.
The course is the DMV-licensed Freeway Traffic School online program (license E1745). When you enroll, you start on our secure online course page with no upfront course payment, then pay only when you pass — self-paced, English or Spanish. The same DMV-approved program counts regardless of which device you use.
